A real “tea” scandal broke out in the UK, which shocked the entire industry!

It turns out that one entrepreneur, Thomas Robinson, sold hundreds of tons of ordinary Chinese tea as “Scottish”, assuring customers that this tea was made on tea plantations, where it was processed only by specially trained specialists. However, the specialists were not exactly specially trained, and the tea was not exactly “Scottish”.

Thomas Robinson, known as “Tetley Tam”, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for fraud of £ 500,000. He sold ordinary imported tea as “Scottish” under the brand name Wee Tea Plantation, deceiving luxury hotels and retailers.

Thomas built an entire empire of fraud, implementing the “classic” approach to business: “The more you deceive, the more you will sell”. He got caught on tea, which turned out to be ordinary Chinese. So the next time someone tells you they’re selling “Scottish tea” for £50 a bag, we advise you to check the label right away! 😉
